Trekking in Ethiopia in the Bale Mountains

The Bale Mountains in Ethiopia offer spectacular landscapes home to unique biodiversity and fascinating endemic species. This program will take you to the highlands broken by many spectacular volcanic plugs, peaks, alpine lakes and beautiful mountain rivers precipices that descend from deep rocky gorges to the plains of the Balé Mountains. With 6 days of 5 to 8 hours of walking, you are used to trekking.

You will discover the mountain Nyalas, the Abyssinian fox endemic to Ethiopia, the Minilik Bush Bush, and countless species of birds.
Your steps will also take you through impressive forests like Erica and Harena without forgetting the Saneti plateau and Tullu Deemtu the second highest mountain in Ethiopia at 4377 meters above sea level.

Day 1 - Arrival in Addis Ababa

On arrival, meet the team at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport and transfer to the hotel for check-in.

After breakfast, you will visit the national museum where Lucy is located. You will have lunch in town and in the afternoon visit the Trinity Cathedral and the Mausoleum of Emperor Menelik II.

Night in hotel.

Day 2 - Bale Mountains - Dinsho

After breakfast, you will leave for the sumptuous Bale Mountains and its National Park, traveling deep into the southeastern part where the fertile land is cultivated by the Oromos. Arrival at Dinsho (Park headquarters) in the afternoon, in time for a walk allowing you to see two of the endemic mammals: Menelik's Bushbuck, the Mountain Nyala.

Night at Dinsho Lodge or campsite surrounded by juniper trees and many animals walking in the park.

Day 3 - Dinsho - Gaysay Valley

Full day around Dinsho and the Geysay valley. In hiking mode you will meet three endemic mammals: Menelik Bushbuck, the Mountain Nyala and the Abyssinian wolf.

In the afternoon, the coordination of your trekking, guide, mules and equipment will be ensured. Night at Dinsho lodge or camping.
