Lake Abijata and Lake Shalla are two of the most notable lakes in the Great Rift Valley of Ethiopia.

Lake Abijata is a shallow salt lake, known for its waters rich in minerals and particularly soda, which attract a variety of waterfowl.

Shalla Lake, on the other hand, is a deep freshwater lake known for its natural beauty and diverse wildlife.

These two lakes provide a striking contrast between landscape and natural habitats, making them popular destinations for nature and birding enthusiasts in Ethiopia. You can also discover ostriches and gazelles.
